Delete your Knotd account
App: Knotd: Daily Book Summaries
Developer: YBit Limited
Contact: ybitapp@gmail.com
You can delete your Knotd account and the data tied to it at any time, in the app or by email.
Before you delete: cancel your subscription
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it first, or you may keep being charged:
- Bought through the App Store: in Knotd, go to Profile → Settings → Cancel subscription, or on your iPhone go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- Bought by card through Stripe: in Knotd, go to Profile → Settings → Cancel subscription, which opens Stripe’s billing page. If you can’t, email us before you delete.
Delete in the app
- Open Knotd and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Go to the Profile tab and tap the gear icon (Settings) at the top.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Danger zone.
- Tap Delete account.
- Tap Continue, then Yes, delete.
Your account is deleted straight away and you are signed out on every device. It cannot be undone.
Can’t open the app? Email us
Write to ybitapp@gmail.com from the email address on your Knotd account, with the subject “Delete my Knotd account”. Sending from that address shows us the account is yours. If you can’t send from it (for example, you used Hide My Email with Sign in with Apple), email us anyway and say so, and we will work out with you how to confirm the account is yours.
We delete the same data as the in-app option and reply to confirm when it is done.
What gets deleted
- Your account and sign-in details: name, email address and sign-in method
- Your profile: username, profile photo and onboarding answers
- Reading and listening progress, Continue Reading, saved books, streaks, XP, level and weekly league place
- Your notes and highlights
- Quiz challenges, Bits answers and step-reward claims
- Friends and friend requests
- Your posts, replies, likes and photos in community groups
- Knotd’s own record of your subscription, your push notification tokens and your notification history
- On your phone, Knotd signs you out, cancels its reminders and clears your profile. Uninstalling the app removes anything left on the phone.
What may be kept
- Payment records. Apple and Stripe keep records of your purchases under their own rules. Deleting your Knotd account does not delete those records.
- Records no longer linked to you. Some usage records (for example, which onboarding screens were viewed) and notices Apple sends us about subscription changes stay in our database with the link to your account removed.
- Groups you created. A community group you started stays, with its cover image, for its other members. You are no longer shown as its creator.
- Analytics and crash data. PostHog (analytics), Sentry (crash reports), Meta and Instally (install measurement) keep the data they received under their own retention settings. It is tied to your account ID or device, not your name or email. Email us if you want us to ask them to remove it.
- Emails you sent us, and anything we must keep by law.
